About the role: Dive into a new role at Waves Fitness and Aquatic Centre

Would you enjoy being part of the inaugural Aquatic Programs Team launching the brand-new Aquatic and Fitness Centre in the Sydney Hills in 2022? The Hills Shire Council is currently seeking experienced and suitably qualified Learn to Swim Instructors (Casuals) to conduct planned aquatic education plans that incorporate relevant drills to improve swimmers' ability and encourage progression through the Learn to Swim Program. The new $55m fitness and aquatic centre is now under construction with opening expected in July 2022. The complex will include a 10-lane 50m outdoor Olympic-sized pool, additional 25m outdoor pool and two indoor learn to swim and leisure pools, along with water play area, and a fully equipped fitness centre. The roles will commence prior to the complex opening, your focus will be conducting structured swim lessons as outlined by the Team Leader Aquatic Programs. Duties include:

  • Plan, organise, and conduct learn to swim lessons.
  • Facilitate the skill development of swimmers with a range of skill levels to achieve outcomes.
  • Monitor student progression of swimmers & inform Team Leader of their ability for progression.
  • Liaise with Programs Assistants in regard to swim lane allocations, enrolment attendances.

About you:

To be successful in this role you will have:

  1. Prior experience in a similar role.
  2. Current Austswim Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety
  3. First Aid - (HLTAID003)
  4. Drivers Licence (Class C) - NSW

Position details:

Casual role, T861, Salary: From $32.64 to $35.28 per hour including casual loading + weekend penalty rates + Superannuation. Junior casual rates applicable for under 19 years of age.
