MANAGER - FINANCIAL CONTROL & REPORTING

About the role:

Are you a self-motivated individual with strong financial leadership and innovation skills? Council is looking for a qualified, experienced & results-orientated financial professional to join our Finance & Organisation Performance Group. This leadership role works collaboratively with Senior Management and all business units Managers in the provision of strategic advice, effective financial management and control of Council's financial resources and the management of financial systems. This role leads, mentors and manages the Budgeting & Integrated Planning & Reporting team.

Duties include:

  1. Responsible for the provision of strategic financial information & reports to Senior Management & Council on financial matters;
  2. Lead, coach & manage Budgeting & Integrated Planning & Reporting team responsible for IP&R functions, Financial Statement & Financial Systems administration;
  3. Provide strategic advice & responsible for financial management & control of Council's financial resources;
  4. Responsible for the management of Council's monthly Budget Review process in accordance with OLG guidelines;
  5. Responsible for the production of Council's Strategic Plan, Delivery Program, Resourcing Strategy & Operations Plan;
  6. Responsible for the production of Council's Annual Report & End of Term Report;
  7. Responsible for the management of quarterly update on the Delivery Program & KPI reporting;
  8. Manage financial system upgrades, implement new systems;
  9. Develop financial policies, internal accounting policies and controls to comply with accounting standards & legislation.

About you:

To be considered for this role you will possess:

  1. Degree in Business or Accounting or similar qualifications;
  2. Member of Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants or The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia;
  3. Broad managerial experience in a financial environment (10+ years);
  4. Extensive demonstrated experience in Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Budgeting and Corporate & Strategic Planning;
  5. Highly proficient in the development & implementation of financial systems;
  6. A thorough knowledge & understanding of Australian Accounting Standards, Financial Regulations, Codes of Accounting Practice and other legislation and inflation & other factors that affect the economy;
  7. Self-motivated with strong leadership skills and the ability to manage conflicting demands in a high pressure deadline-driven environment;
  8. Current Class C Motor Vehicle Licence.

Position details:

Permanent Full Time position, Position Number: CN0054, Salary: Circa/From $168K including Superannuation + Car Allowance
