About the role:

Do you have a strong knowledge and understanding of WHS and Injury Management practices and processes? An opportunity exists for a highly motivated, organised person to manage, influence and promote highest practicable standards of work health and safety and injury management. As Health, Safety & Injury Management Advisor, you will provide advice, guidance and collaborative responsive solutions for all of our workers compensation and injury management practices and processes across the organisation in a safe and supportive environment and in compliance with legislative requirements.

Duties include:

  • Provide advice and guidance on all WHS and workers compensation matters;
  • Develop, apply & review WHS governance & reporting framework, annual safety strategy & action plan;
  • Implement & review Council's WHS & HR management policies, procedures & processes to address safety risks;
  • Contribute to the development & implement a program for SWAT checks in consultation with the Principal Coordinator HR & Wellbeing - WHS Y Learning;
  • Contribute to the WHS team to achieve business goals & performance targets;
  • Undertake incident investigations in accordance with legislation and Industry Best Practice;
  • Manage the administration of workers compensation claims and injury management programs;
  • Manage & liaise with internal & external parties for employee rehabilitation & return to work;
  • Manage Council's workers compensation and LPR requirements;
  • Contribute to develop a culture promoting staff wellbeing through WHS;
  • Contribute & oversee the implementation & ongoing management of the WHS systems & processes;
  • Monitor and regularly report on organisation safety targets;
  • Undertake annual WHS audits & implement subsequent improvement plan;
  • Act as the Safety Representative on committees;
  • Other duties specified by the Supervisor/Manager.

About you:

To be considered for this role you will have:

  1. Bachelor Degree in WHS or HR and 7+ years' experience in a relevant field;
  2. Extensive experience in the application & understanding of WHS Act 2011, WHS Regulation 2017 and the Workers Compensation Legislation to workplaces;
  3. Extensive demonstrated experience in developing & drafting WHS policies & procedures;
  4. Demonstrated ability in engaging and providing efficient and responsive return to work programs for injured workers and non-work related injuries & illness;
  5. Advanced ability to analyse complex WHS and workers compensation problems;
  6. High level written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to deal with a variety of employees;
  7. Well-developed computer & good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite packages;
  8. Ability to deal with a variety of day to day issues simultaneously.
  9. Current Class C Motor Vehicle Driver Licence.
