About the role:

This position provides a range of professional, technical and operational services in the coordination, administration and supervision of contractors carrying out civil maintenance projects.

Duties include:

  • Coordinate, administer and supervise the activities of contractors, sub-contractors and Council staff throughout the maintenance process, ensuring the final product is constructed in accordance with Council's Maintenance Specifications, within allocated budget and specified timeframe
  • Offer timely and safe solutions to identified onsite construction problems by applying standards, established practices and procedures and/or operating instructions
  • Prepare resident notification letters
  • Address concerns as well as communicate and negotiate effectively with public utility authorities, government authorities, businesses, residents, property owners and others in respect to assigned infrastructure project activities
  • Complete and provide regular information/updates on progress of completed and outstanding maintenance works
  • Raise, verify and authorise payment of invoices submitted by contractors
  • Assist with procurement processes to deliver projects
  • Assist in the review of guidelines and procedures including the identification of efficiencies within Council's maintenance activities
  • Provide technical advice ensuring activities undertaken are carried out in accordance with Council's policies and procedures and relevant statutory obligations
  • Assist with the investigation of risk issues and insurance claims arising from the condition of Council's Civil Infrastructure
  • Other duties as directed by Supervisor or Manager

About you:

To be successful in this role you will have:

  1. Degree in Civil Engineering or TAFE Diploma in Construction or other related discipline
  2. 2 years in a similar role
  3. Drivers Licence (Class C) - NSW
  4. White Card - General Construction Induction
  5. Demonstrated experience in supervising construction projects and managing contractors
  6. Knowledge in the design construction and maintenance of local government infrastructure

Permanent Full-time role, W0275, Salary: From $75K + Superannuation + Council Leaseback or To and from Vehicle
