COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT OFFICER (TEMPORARY UP TO 6 MONTHS)

About the role:

The Community Development Officer will facilitate community development activities for the Community Outcomes team as well as programs in accordance the Department of Communities and Justice funding deed within the broad parameters of the Targeted Early Intervention program (TEI) including program outcomes, the target group, and activities that might be delivered under the program.

Duties include:

  • Develop and implement projects to deliver youth and community sector development as per the Program Level Agreement with the Department of Communities and Justice
  • Develop and maintain effective partnerships with local community service providers and government agencies
  • Actively participate in The Hills interagency networks and input information on local community services needs to local and wider planning processes
  • Provide technical advice to project officers on specific activities associated with projects to ensure consistent quality in the delivery of engagement at an operational level
  • Develop and implement initiatives to engage and connect community groups in The Hills Shire to identify critical issues requiring attention as well as increasing their knowledge, skills and capacity
  • Promote coordination and cooperation of groups providing community services in The Hills Shire
  • Connect relevant stakeholders to provide for the community service gaps identified within The Hills Shire
  • Facilitate, plan, develop and prioritise initiatives to deliver services and community activities that respond to priorities identified in The Hills Shire Plan
  • Budget management including preparing acquittal of external grants and sponsorships, process payments and invoicing
  • Manage the function and operation of Council's Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) working group
  • Prepare and review strategic plans relating to Council's DIAP

About you:

To be successful in this role you will have:

  1. Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role
  2. Community Development tertiary qualifications or 5 years relevant experience
  3. Knowledge of contemporary trends and best practice in community development
  4. Drivers Licence (Class C) - NSW
